While this Kentucky basketball team has only been together for a short period of time, one thing is clear, this team is close considering it is only July. Interestingly, one reason for that growing team chemistry is video games.

On social media, you can see the players often talking about playing video games with one another, especially the incoming freshmen. Interestingly, that young group used video games to recruit Antonio Reeves back to Kentucky.

“The vibe really started when we all got on the game together. Like Fortnite, Call of Duty,” Reeves said. That’s when I knew these guys were ready to go. We’d talk for hours and hours on the game. They said they needed a veteran.”

Reeves showed his importance to this Kentucky team this past week as he helped lead the Wildcats to an undefeated Gold medal at GLOBL JAM, averaging 23 points and shooting 56.3 percent from three.

This puts into perspective that these players that we cover and entertain thousands of fans, are just college kids at the end of the day. As they say, Fortnite and Call of Duty are known to “bring the boys together,” even on the Kentucky basketball team.
